Portessie was connected to Keith Junction via the Highland Railway’s Keith to Buckie and Portessie line, although this line was lifted between Buckie and Aultmore in 1915 (see also) and never subsequently operated between these points. The Portessie to Buckie stub existed (under LMS) until 1944.
